What I Got from National Bookstore’s Color and Calligraphy Fair!

Yesterday, I gave you a virtual tour of National Bookstore’s Color and Calligraphy Fair.

Now let’s get to the juicy part: the loot!

All the bloggers and members of the media who attended the fair’s media preview went home with a handful of bags containing gifts from the generous sponsors and the awesome peops from National Bookstore themselves. Here’s mine!

I had to go somewhere so I wasn’t able to open the bags and explore the gifts until later that evening. When I got home, though, I noticed that the bags have been re-arranged. Someone at home obviously had fun looking at the supplies inside (I’m not the only stationery junkie at home!).

Had to return the stuff to their original bags to take this picture LOL! (Look, I have a photobomber!)

Let me show you what’s inside the bags:

National Bookstore’s Color and Calligraphy 2017

One of my absolute favourite stores in the world is National Bookstore.

It’s a no-brainer. I love books, pens, notebooks, stationery, school supplies, art supplies, even office supplies like staplers and tape dispensers. Where else to go but NBS? Nothing compares.

When I first knew about National Bookstore’s Color and Calligraphy fair, I was sure I was going to be there. I was already salivating at the thought of all the art and calligraphy supplies. I would figuratively drown in 0.5 tips and brush tips and at least 150 gsm paper. What got me jumping up and down, though, was an invitation to be part of their media preview. Oh, National Bookstore, you don’t need to tell me twice!

I got to Abreeza a few minutes after it opened, but at the atrium, where the Color and Calligraphy fair was happening, people were already milling around. I noticed teenagers and young kids examining the booths and claiming some spots in the art tables. Nice one, kids! I myself felt like I was in an art heaven of some sort. I think all the art supplies you will possibly need were there!

This is going to be a two-part post. For this part, I’ll give you a virtual tour of what I saw in the Color and Calligraphy fair. Prepare for picture overload! Continue Reading

Messy Haul Planning Shopping

Messy Haul: More Pretty Craft Supplies from National Bookstore, Daiso and Gaisano Mall

I am supposed to spend zero on shopping for this month.

However, it turns out that a no-spend February would be impossible for me since there are a few real estate-related events scheduled for the month, a mini travel and out-of-town wedding, as well as a scheduled 2-day outing with work colleagues.

(Also, I was able to force myself to attend a CPD or Continuing Professional Development seminar last weekend — it’s a requirement for renewing your PRC license — and since I got zero rest day during that week, I sort of rewarded myself with cheap fun.)

Since I could not not shop this month, I figured to just let go of the no-spend concept just for now and save myself from all the stress and guilty feelings BUT try my hardest to:

1. Buy only stuff that I will use (no hoarding!)

2. Buy stuff on a budget (and follow the envelopes strictly!)

I’m glad to say I was able to follow both of my self-imposed rules. In fact, the only places I’ve visited recently are Gaisano Mall (where prices are cheaper compared to other malls like SM and Abreeza), Daiso, and *drum roll* DCLA in our local Chinatown!

But one thing at a time (read: must stop blabbing), so I’ll show you some of my finds from National Bookstore, Daiso and Gaisano Mall. I’m a newbie at creative planning and I have very little supplies — I’m still growing them — which is why I tend to look for stuff that I can use for the craft. And since I’m on a budget, I chose things that look nice but don’t burn a hole in my pocket at the same time. Here they are:

1. Chalkboard Wall Sticker – Weekly Planner

Bought at: National Bookstore
Price: P59.00
Useful for: Reminders, routines, schedules, and tracking habits

Here’s how I use my chalkboard sticker:

It couldn’t possibly fit everything I need to do on that day (that’s what my planner is for!), so I just wrote down the top priority of the day.
