Messy Stories: I’m a Stressed but Blessed Mama!

It’s almost 9:30 pm now and we are supposed to be studying for Yuri’s second quarter periodic exam, which starts on Thursday. But obviously we are not. I’m here typing my fingers off while Yuri is dancing to the tune of… guess what… Baby Shark! LOL.

Yep, it’s my fault. Again. Sorry, Yuri! It’s the weekend and I’m very busy with real estate work. Heck, it’s almost Monday na nga eh hahahuhu (good thing there’s no class tomorrow — but there’s still work!). I’m doing a lot of things, and even when I’m not actually doing them, there’s thousands of things running on my mind. And that’s still stressful haha!

Segue: My period is delayed for more than a week now and there’s still no sign of it arriving soon because I’m not having PMS symptoms. It’s not alarming because I don’t feel sick and I’m 101% certain that I’m not pregnant lol, but I have very regular periods so I’m not sure why I’m delayed this month. Is this stress-related?

Anyway, I did spend a good chunk of the weekend making Yuri’s worksheets and catching up on the lessons I wasn’t able to work on this month. You’d think making worksheets is easy, but even if I’m already using a laptop and a printer, it’s still ma-effort and time-consuming. The things we do for love!

Yuri Lately

I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of doing it for Yuri, though. He’s such a good kid and I ~humbly~ think he deserves nothing but the best. He has his pilyo moments, but overall, I think he’s very nice and understanding for his age, malambing, and on top of that, an honor student pa! Did I mention he was one of his class’s representatives for the Math quiz bee last week? The one I stressed about last Monday hehe. His partner was Isabella, who happens to be his girl best friend. Too bad I didn’t have a picture of him (looooong story). What did we do to deserve this child?

Anyway, we’re not studying right now because aside from the fact that I finished doing the worksheets late, even when I started yesterday, I’m still waiting for a video to upload to send to a client. We’ll do the studying tomorrow and hope for the best lol.

Oh by the way, I want to share with you something Yuri said earlier while we were having lunch outside.

He’s at this stage where he reads everything he thinks he can read. And I mean, everything! While were were waiting for our food to get served, he saw a sign that I’m sure you see in almost every establishment. Of course, he had to read it:

Please don’t… leave… your… um, v-va-ve-vegetables un…attended…

And he agreed with what he had read. He said, “Dapat ubusin ang vegetables, no? Wag i-leave un…unattended.” I had to keep myself from reacting. In fact, I didn’t even correct it (I’m sure he’ll learn the right word, valuables, on his own haha) because tama nga naman, eat all your vegetables and don’t leave them unattended!

Journey to Fitness

I’ve talked about getting fit again a million times. But nothing’s happened. In fact, I’m even bigger than before. I am overweight and would really benefit from losing 7-10 kilograms. Kilograms, not pounds! I know what to do; the problem is that I have very weak self-control. Just place me in a restaurant or an event that serves good food and it’s good bye diet.

So I recruited my close friend, Yankee, to be my accountability partner. I never had a serious accountability partner before, but I have a good feeling about this one because Yankee is also dieting (misery loves company hahaha) and I know she won’t hesitate to scold me if I mess up! (Not to mention the steep P1,000 fine each time I’m tempted to eat something sugary haha.)

I seriously, seriously need to lose weight because my clothes don’t fit me anymore. Also, while I’m completely healthy (I think) despite being overweight, I’m afraid that if I don’t change my lifestyle now, I’ll be at risk of getting lifestyle-related diseases. So I need to do this! Good bye sugar!

    Stress is the possible culprit, Maan. It’s a huge factor to consider when couples try to get pregnant – to try not to be too stressed especially for women coz it irregulates the cycle. Back to Yuri, hahaha! Same here sa baby shark – it’s everywheeeeere! Gosh! And Nate loves reading too, kahit saan, pero super tamad magsulat.

    I’m also starting my journey to fitness because whenever people see me, sinasabihan na ko na tumataba. Before, natutuwa ko when I hear that because payat naman ko since bata. But now, hindi na ko natutuwa when people say na tumataba ko kasi nagless rice na nga ko at exercise e. Waah!

    I so can relate, mommy Maan. Stress, work, and more stress amidst all the things we have to do every single day. Whew! Just thinking about it makes me stressed even more. Haha 😀 Sending virtual hugs to you and all the stressed but blessed mommies out there. 🙂

    Relate on the fitness issue. I am also gaining weight and I know that I really need to do something or else… kaso ang SARAP kumain. On the delayed period, yes, might be caused by stress. When I was still a working mama, that’s quite normal to me. But, cheer up! Nakakapagod talaga minsan, you just need a mama me time sometimes. 🙂

    We share the same sentiments lately. Sobrang busy I even couldn’t sleep at night kasi kapag matutulog na, ideas are still in my head. And as a mom there are a lot of things to do. According to research mommies need to accomplish 20+ tasks in the morning. Imagine, sa umaga palang yan. That’s why madalas body ang nagssuffer satin. I hope you get stress-free days ahead. 🙂

    It’s nice to be able to catch up through your blog. Hugs mommy! It can be trying sometimes to have so much on your plate but just hang in there. Definitely it’s our kids who give us the strength we need. 🙂
