More than a month ago, our neighbour posted on Facebook a rare find she discovered at Gaisano Mall. It was a phone sold by Smart Communications for only P888. I had to rub my eyes because I had to be reading it incorrectly. But it was really priced at only P888. Sure it was not the most fab phone out there, but for P888, it was a notable find.
I checked Smart’s website and the phone was already sold out. However, I wrote my name in the waitlist — that was before I lost my phone, though, so the number I listed there was no longer contactable so I just checked the website every now and then. I wasn’t able to inquire about it in a physical store until weeks later when I applied for a phone plan under Smart and the CS rep confirmed that the units are all sold out.
But one Sunday, I checked the website on a whim and the P888 phones were available again! I immediately placed an order for two phones and waited. Despite the reviews saying that the phones took too long to arrive, my order arrived only after four days (which is normal for Davao City).
Hi everyone! *waves furiously*
I’m back! Did you miss me?
Okaaaay. Anyway, I am back in more ways than one because *drum roll* I finally have a new phone! Let me tell you how life was in the past two weeks.
The Saga of the Lost Phone
I know I’m going to sound way too shallow here, but I was really dejected when I lost my phone a couple of weeks ago. I was not sad just because I lost a phone. Although that phone and I shared a lot of memories together (I used it for everything — from taking photos and writing blog posts to responding to emails and communicating with my long-distance partner), it was not the actual loss of the item that made me feel depressed. Rather, it was the loss of the things that I had taken for granted.
This is one of the last photos I have of me holding my phone hahaha. This was taken by my friend and colleague, Lenz, at Eden Nature Park
I would spot lovely sights or visit awesome places but had nothing to use to take snapshots (somehow, the compact camera has lost its appeal for me). Yuri would do something really funny or witty but I have nothing to record it with.
But the worst part of not having a phone is losing constant communication with Job. You see, the internet is not an option as he’s assigned in a location where internet/mobile data signal is really poor. So we depend on good old text messaging.
I haven’t posted any haul post lately. Must be because I haven’t been buying anything lately? Haha that’s probably the reason why!
Aside from the obvious fact that it’s almost Christmas (can you believe it) and I’m trying to save money for Christmas gifts (emphasis on trying huhu), I find myself spending on food instead of stuff. That’s unlike me because I usually prefer buying stuff over food – must explain the weight gain I’ve had lately?
But that doesn’t mean I’m not window shopping. Oh no, far from that. In fact, I’ve been doing nothing but check online websites. For weeks now. I’m very busy at work (and I’ve been having personal problems — read: LQ), so I’m relieving stress by online window shopping. Who doesn’t love online window shopping? You get the same happy hormone rush as if you’re actually shopping without the buyer’s remorse.
Okay I take it back. It’s not exactly like actual shopping. But it’s still stress-relieving — at least for me! Here are the stuff I’ve been planning to buy (but keep on delaying because I’m one kuripot lady):
