An Embarrassing Thing Happened To Me The Other Day

Hey everyone! Blogging just a short and sweet entry today because Miss Joyful Mess is down with the flu. Yes that’s me. I don’t know why, but this year, I’ve been getting sick more often? Does it have to do with weaning from breastfeeding? Or else I’m totally blaming the haze.

The I-have-a-cold-and-I-have-red-nose selfie hahaha. (I didn’t realise how yellow I was until this picture.)

Okay I digress. Something really embarrassing happened to me last Sunday at the mall.

Funny, Embarrassing Thursday

I have a funny story.

Yesterday, I took a leave from work because my 2-month old laptop suddenly stopped working. It was working so well and then it suddenly won’t turn on. Either I have abused my battery (possible) or it was attacked by a virus (also possible). It’s a good thing it’s still covered by warranty, both service and parts, so there wasn’t any problem money-wise.

Anyway, my mother and Yuri went with me yesterday because we also needed to drop by HLURB. They texted us saying that our certificates were already. We also decided to run some errands and buy food because it was my dad’s birthday, too.

So we were off to my sister’s school first to pay her tuition fee. We were already on the highway when I realized I wasn’t wearing shoes.

Mumnesia

I’m suffering from a sickness.

It’s called mumnesia.

Funnily, it’s been more than 3 years since I’ve had my anaesthesia (for my CS operation), but mumnesia is only affecting me now. I keep on forgetting everything! Well, I’m thankful it doesn’t affect my job — but I’m sure that’s hugely because of Todoist (thank you, Todoist). All my tasks and deadlines need to be written into my Todoist list or I’ll forget everything. Seriously.

My other “big” tasks (for the household, for the blog) all get written into my list, so I don’t really forget them. But the everyday stuff? The everyday stuff — the mundane things that don’t necessarily get written into my list — are what gets me into trouble.

I took this when I was studying, but maybe I need to take it again,

Yurisms: I Dropped the Alligator

Yuri is a handful.

There, I said it.

I was so happy when we got out of the so-called Terrible Two’s stage unscathed. He was always a well-behaved child who was normally active and only seldom threw tantrums.

I was wrong. The real challenge is when your child turns three.

Don’t get me wrong; Yuri still has a mostly happy disposition and could very well behave when needed. However, at this age, he’s also beginning to have a stronger personality and know the fine art of manipulating adults. He still isn’t into throwing tantrums – I guess that goes with the fact that I either ignore him or laugh at him when he attempts to – but can pretend-cry to see if he can get what he wants.

But despite these, I love many things about this age. One of these things is the funny things kids say. Yuri has his own share of funny anecdotes! Here are the funny stuff he recently did:

Alligator Drop

One day, I heard a soft crash – clearly, something fell (or was dropped) in the bedroom nearby. As expected, Yuri came running to me and said,

Nahulog ko alligator mo.

Me: Anong alligator?

Yuri: Yung alligator na gamit mo.

I was confused and kept asking him what that alligator was until he showed me what he meant:
