Messy Haul: Frugal Finds from Etude House and National Bookstore

In a previous post, I wrote about just how much we’re loving Eye Level Learning Center. Well, another thing I love about it is being able to choose our own schedule. We’re there Tuesdays and Saturdays at 10 am. Saturdays are a no-brainer because I have no work and we’re able to do our own “thing” after class.

Therein lies the problem.

SM Lanang Premier is just a couple of minutes away from Eye Level, which means it’s going to be a bit harder to resist a sale. Speaking of sale, Etude House went on sale last weekend. Being a self-confessed fanatic of all things Korean, I frequent Etude House, so of course, I went!

I worked on a minimal budget though (hashtag spending rehab) of, guess what, P500. I was so determined to stick to my budget but I went a little bit over huhu. Anyway, here’s what I got:

Play Therapy Wash-Off Pack (Brightening Up!)
P448 less 20% = P358.40

Happy Essential Foam (Hyaluronic Acid)
P248, less 20% = P198.40

I Need You Hyaluronic Acid Mask
P58, less 20% = P46.40

Drawing Eye Brow
P178, less 20% = P142.40

Of course, I cannot make a trip to Etude House without picking one or two Drawing Eye Brow pencils. It’s my go-to eye brow pencil. I actually still have two in my makeup box, but somehow I lost one… That’s the nth pencil I’ve lost… #mumnesia

All the time, Yuri was just following me, playing with the store’s little baskets hehe. I thought he would be tired and cranky because he just came from school, but he was really patient. So I took my time choosing the more affordable products. I was eyeing the new Berry AHA line, but it’s out of my self-restricted budget, so maybe next time.

Or I’ll probably just wait for them on Althea Philippines. Korean products are so much cheaper there!

After the budgeted shopping spree in Etude House, we then proceeded to National Bookstore to buy what else but more homeschool preschool supplies! Here’s what we got:

Dry erase handwriting board
I think this was around P70

Basic preschool workbooks
P70 – P90

Mundane supplies like a tin crayon case (as expected, the original box Yuri’s box came in got torn), an eraser, and a glue stick (because liquid glue is too messy)

In lieu of toys, I got Yuri a set of washable markers from Maped. This comes with an app, too! I have yet to try it.

What fab and frugal finds have you had lately?

I’m a makeup junkie but I haven’t tried any of Etude House’s products. I’ll give it a go one day.

Thanks for sharing your shopping with us! Recently I got my older child sticker foams cause she just loves it! It keeps her distracted for about 15-20 minutes, which makes me love the project too! 😀

When Etude opened in Manila years before, I’d go there just to see the store. Oh how I love to just stay and see and feel that pink store!

I’ve never tried Etude House products before but really hope I can try some too because I’ve read so many nice reviews. I’m also eyeing their new berry line because I just love berries. Haha!

I wanted to go to Etude during the sale but had to control as we have a tight budget. I’m happy that you were able to buy stuff for yourself.😊

I love Etude House’s Bubble Hair Coloring in Wine Red 🙂 I bet you would be happy to shop make up in Korea. I recently bought 4 tubes of hand lotion there for only 12000 Korean Won (around 500 pesos).

Gaaaah! That’s why going to Korea is on top of my bucket list!

I’ve got a little man starting school this August so I’m eyeing on some of the materials you bought from NBS. I like the dry erase writing board!

I also use etude house’s brow pencil. I love the crayon tin can! Parang I need that too! 🙂

I haven’t given Etude house a try except for the foundation that I did not like much. Medyo pangit ang color/shade sa akin. Maybe I’ll give the eyebrow makeup a chance hehe. Naghahanap kasi ako ng mga pangkilay ngayon.

And btw, I love National bookstore haha!:)

Confession: I don’t buy foundation from Korean stores because they’re ashy. Japanese brands are better.

I need that eyebrow pencil! I didn’t know mura lang ang items in Etude. 🙂

I enjoy going around National Bookstore. So tita :)) I was supposed to buy the same workbooks, but I prefer the wipe-and-clean ones para re-usable :))

I love shopping at National Bookstore. It’s like my candy shop. My husband likes to joke that I can spend hours and hours in there.
