Messy Haul Planning Shopping

Messy Haul: More Pretty Craft Supplies from National Bookstore, Daiso and Gaisano Mall

I am supposed to spend zero on shopping for this month.

However, it turns out that a no-spend February would be impossible for me since there are a few real estate-related events scheduled for the month, a mini travel and out-of-town wedding, as well as a scheduled 2-day outing with work colleagues.

(Also, I was able to force myself to attend a CPD or Continuing Professional Development seminar last weekend — it’s a requirement for renewing your PRC license — and since I got zero rest day during that week, I sort of rewarded myself with cheap fun.)

Since I could not not shop this month, I figured to just let go of the no-spend concept just for now and save myself from all the stress and guilty feelings BUT try my hardest to:

1. Buy only stuff that I will use (no hoarding!)

2. Buy stuff on a budget (and follow the envelopes strictly!)

I’m glad to say I was able to follow both of my self-imposed rules. In fact, the only places I’ve visited recently are Gaisano Mall (where prices are cheaper compared to other malls like SM and Abreeza), Daiso, and *drum roll* DCLA in our local Chinatown!

But one thing at a time (read: must stop blabbing), so I’ll show you some of my finds from National Bookstore, Daiso and Gaisano Mall. I’m a newbie at creative planning and I have very little supplies — I’m still growing them — which is why I tend to look for stuff that I can use for the craft. And since I’m on a budget, I chose things that look nice but don’t burn a hole in my pocket at the same time. Here they are:

1. Chalkboard Wall Sticker – Weekly Planner

Bought at: National Bookstore
Price: P59.00
Useful for: Reminders, routines, schedules, and tracking habits

Here’s how I use my chalkboard sticker:

It couldn’t possibly fit everything I need to do on that day (that’s what my planner is for!), so I just wrote down the top priority of the day.

2. Chipboard Embellishment Stickers

Bought at: National Bookstore
Price: P49 each
Useful for: Planners, journals, scrapbooks, anything you can put a sticker on

(There were 2 designs available at the time, but I didn’t care much for the other design and thought I had no use for it, so I got two of the same design instead.)

3. Whole Sun Pink Ruler

Bought at: National Bookstore
Price: P29
Useful for: Ruling stuff

I just discovered a favourite brand of school and office supplies: Whole Sun! They have everything you’ll need in an office — pins, staplers, et cetera — but in cutesy, pretty colours!

4. Washi Tapes

Bought at: Gaisano Mall School Supplies Department
Price: P40 each
Useful for: Decorating anything and everything under the sun – you can also use it to highlight, mark, and label.

The glitter tapes are not exactly washi, but I’m not complaining. You (I) can do no wrong with glitters!

5. Whole Sun Ribbon Paper Clip

Bought at: National Bookstore
Price: Oh noes I forgot the exact price, but this should be around P30?
Useful for: Binding stuff, decorating things, and bookmarking (I use it to bookmark pages in my planner)

Another Whole Sun product! I’m loving the prettiness (and cheapness!).

6. Pencil Case/ Binder Pouch

Bought at: Daiso
Price: P88
Useful for: Storing pencils and small supplies that you use for your planner, notebooks, journals, et cetera

It has a thick piece of garter behind it that goes over your chosen book.

It comfortably fits 2 of my retractable pens, one erasable ballpen, and one Pentel Touch brush pen with some space left for little knick-knacks.

Aaaand it fits my planner, dimension-wise and colour-wise teehee.

Bonus: Chalk (for the chalkboard sticker)

Any fab and frugal finds lately?

I like the chalkboard. Actually all of it and looking at their prices, they are very very affordable. Hope I can find some time to buy those things. I still have a photo album/scrapbook to make.

I love the ribbon paper clips! Hmmmm, what did I buy these past weeks? Aha! I just tried Pan De Manila’s salty yema spread. Yummy but a little bit pricey at P85. Thanks for sharing!

I had no idea you could find a lot of cute things at NBS, I’m usually just there to buy office supplies lol.

That chalboard sticker looks very handy! For office & stationery I usually shop at Daiso because of their unique items. I had my travel kit build from them:

It’s quite dangerous considering that Daiso is a impulse heaven. Haha.

I have the same paper clips! 🙂 Those Craft Easy stickers look nice. I haven’t seen that design in any of the National Book Stores I’ve been to lately though.
