I am officially the world’s worst person when it comes to following trends. The bandwagon leaves waaay before I even think of jumping on it!
Such is my love story with Anello. I have always preferred bags over shoes, but I tend to gravitate toward leather and classic styles. I discovered Anello in early 2016 through a friend who is a fan of all things Japanese. And then in early 2017, a close friend who lives in Japan proposed a business with me. During this time, Anello was all the rage and we thought we could sell them here straight from Japan. Obviously, it didn’t come to fruition because none of us had selling experience hehe.
Come mid-to-late 2017. My son is already in school and I find myself bringing lots of stuff whenever I go out (which is everyday). I have to bring an entire change of clothes, a towel or two, snacks, Yuri’s Thermos… No one told me being a school-mom is much like being a baby-mom. While my old leather bags are spacious enough to accommodate them, they’re too heavy. I am on the go and I bring my laptop with me, too, and my shoulders can only take so much.
I decided to give Anello a chance. I wasn’t planning on buying the faux-leather ones as I had bad experience with leatherette, so nylon it is! I was deciding between the tote style and the 2-way shoulder bag but, with my current lifestyle, I thought I could benefit from an adjustable strap. Thus, the shoulder bag!
(I haven’t had my eyebrows on yet, thus the cropped picture haha!)
I am aware that there’s already a physical Anello store in Manila but Manila is too far from Davao. I did a bit of sleuthing and discovered Anello Direct. I saw several reviews vouching for its legitimacy and how it only sells genuine Anello + it offers free shipping worldwide. I ordered the Anello 2-Way Shoulder Bag (Large) in Light Gray for $39.90. After more than 2 weeks of waiting, here it is! Continue Reading
I’ve been using talc-free powder ever since Yuri was a baby.
In fact, I don’t remember the last time I bought normal talc powder. I refuse to use it mainly because of the health risks that it poses. There is just no way I’m going to gamble. No thanks, I’d rather have peace of mind, thank you!
Over the years (Yuri is five now!), I have used a variety of non-talc powders and particularly favoured rice powder; however, they are not exactly easy to find, especially here in Davao City. Would you believe that just a few weeks ago, I was stressing over this because I’m already almost out of supply and I can’t find rice powder anywhere? I know it’s such a mundane thing to get stressed about, but if you’re also a mother, you would know just how important powder is in our kid’s daily lives. So running out of rice powder is a bit of a tough time.
Well, that was before I discovered that one of my favourite baby brands, Belo Baby, now includes talc-free powder in their awesome line of products!
What a relief! You see, Belo Baby is not a foreign brand in our household. I have used a lot of their products: from soap to lotion to cologne. Even though Yuri is technically not a baby anymore (or so he insists!), I am still fond of using Belo Baby products because they smell nice — the scent does not attack my perpetual allergic rhinitis-ridden nose hehe — and are gentle enough to use on tender skin. Most importantly, they do the job they’re supposed to do!
So when Belo Baby contacted me to try out their new Talc-Free Powder just when I was running out of powder, I felt like it was an answered prayer. Of course I said yes! And now I will tell you why you should try it, too, whether you’re already using talc-free powder or not.
Belo Baby Talc-Free Powder is a gentle powder that’s made with zero talc and provides all-natural protection from diaper rash. It is made from certified natural and finely milled rice and maize that absorb moisture to keep baby’s skin soft, fresh and dry. It is also carefully formulated without talc, gluten, phthalates, parabens, dyes, and most common allergens, which I love because I’m careful to avoid all of these harsh ingredients.
#BeloBaby, after all, is rafted with care for the most delicate skin, for the most meticulous moms. Unsurprisingly, Belo Baby Talc-Free Powder is the only powder Baby Scarlet Snow trusts!
And we all know children don’t really outgrow powder, so aside from diaper rash, you and your entire family can absolutely use Belo Baby to suit any purpose!
The first thing that came to my mind when I received the Belo Baby Talc-Free Powder was its pretty packaging! I absolutely loved how it looked like, but just when I thought there’s no way it could get better, I opened the container and saw the cutest soft puff. Our old brand doesn’t have a puff, and talc-free powder tends to spill over due to its lightness, so being able to use it with a puff is a brilliant idea!
Yuri and I immediately used it, and I am pleased to report that it comes with a pleasant scent that is not overpowering, just refreshing.
Not our most glamorous picture, but that’s how we really look at home haha
And speaking of refreshing, it does the job of freshening up my super active 5-year old easily! I use it on Yuri every afternoon after his daily bikes and playing…
I also used it when we went out of town yesterday to go swimming…
And I use it every time we go out so Yuri — and I — smell fresh and sweet!
I like that I don’t have to use up a lot of powder; a dab here and there is enough. I don’t know why, but I don’t like putting a lot of product on the skin. I find that with really effective products, such as this one, there is no need to slather much.
Then again, you can play with more powder if you want to because it doesn’t contain harmful ingredients! After days of using it, I didn’t notice any adverse effect on Yuri’s skin. I’m totally buying this again and again!
If you’re not using talc-free powder, you should switch because:
There’s a lot of health risks involved when using talc, including cancer.
Talc is easily inhaled and may cause respiratory issues and lung irritation.
Common side effects of talc powder use include vomiting and low blood pressure.
As indicated by the American Cancer Society, it is not clear if products containing talc does increase cancer risk. Studies have had mixed results, although there is some suggestion of a possible increase in ovarian cancer risk. As long as there is mixed information, I’ll err on the side of caution.
If you’re already using talc-free powder, you should switch to Belo Baby because:
It is meticulously made by a leading baby product brand with excellent track record.
It is widely available in all leading supermarkets and department stores nationwide.
It is all-natural with zero harmful chemicals.
It comes with a puff that makes it easier to apply the powder and, at the same time, prevents you from using too much of the product.
It is hypoallergenic and dermatologist-tested.
The packaging just looks super cute!
It’s Giveaway Time!
Belo Baby and I are giving Belo Baby Talc-Free Powder gift packs to three lucky readers! Each gift pack is worth at least P659.25, shipping is on us. I think this is perfect because the school year is about to start. Simply follow the instructions in the Rafflecopter form below — easy as pie!
Frankly, rats are not much of a problem at our home. Now, cockroaches, that’s another story! However, lately we’ve been noticing a couple of brown mice scurrying outside our house at night. They don’t go inside our home but they’ve left “nasties” outside.
Fortunately, I received the entire line of Pest Off’s rodent control products. Here they are!

More than a month ago, our neighbour posted on Facebook a rare find she discovered at Gaisano Mall. It was a phone sold by Smart Communications for only P888. I had to rub my eyes because I had to be reading it incorrectly. But it was really priced at only P888. Sure it was not the most fab phone out there, but for P888, it was a notable find.
I checked Smart’s website and the phone was already sold out. However, I wrote my name in the waitlist — that was before I lost my phone, though, so the number I listed there was no longer contactable so I just checked the website every now and then. I wasn’t able to inquire about it in a physical store until weeks later when I applied for a phone plan under Smart and the CS rep confirmed that the units are all sold out.
But one Sunday, I checked the website on a whim and the P888 phones were available again! I immediately placed an order for two phones and waited. Despite the reviews saying that the phones took too long to arrive, my order arrived only after four days (which is normal for Davao City).
Yes, that should include plastic people, but it’s not as easy as getting rid of plastic cups. Hee hee.
As I was saying, we stopped using plastic utensils at our house. Well, almost. We still have a lot of Tupperware, and some of them are barely used, so we still use them from time to time. In fact, I wrote a post about saying goodbye to plastic in my old blog. We began by buying glass milk jars and mason jars. I was using a Snapware glass tumbler (still using it!), and since Yuri was still 2-years old then, I decided to get him a stainless steel tumbler.
His first stainless steel tumbler was a Kid Basix Safe Sporter bottle. It was the perfect size for his needs and it was light enough to carry around. (Read my review of Kid Basix Safe Sporter.)
Yuri’s first stainless steel bottle
It’s so durable that we’re still using it now. However, since Yuri was using it every single day (and was taking it with him every single moment – he drinks a lot), it has become a little worse for wear. It’s still usable, but one look at it and you can say it has seen better days. He’s also outgrown its size and has begun asking for more water (even when I just refilled it), so I knew it was time for a replacement.
I was window shopping (online, of course!) for another brand of stainless steel bottle and came down to Camelbak, Thermos, and KleanKanteen. Belonging to the same price range, I was happy to have any of the three. However, as luck would have it, I stumbled upon a sale in Cudsly where they were selling Thermos Funtainers at 40% off!
From around P1,350, it was down to less than P750! What a blessing!
You’ve been redirected from my post on BPI More Fun Prepaid Card on DavaoMommy.com.
So I just got myself a credit card.
My first one, in fact, as I had always just borrowed mother’s CC for unavoidable transactions. I was wary of getting one because I don’t want to be into debt; thus, I almost always pay for stuff in cash. If I use a credit card, I like to pay it as soon as I can.
So why have I gotten myself a credit card?
Well, because it’s prepaid.
Remember what I said in my last blog? When I told you how we waited for almost 3 hours in BPI? Ito yun. I was lining up to claim by BPI More Fun Prepaid Credit Card.
Why did I choose this over other credit cards?
Again, it’s prepaid, which means if I use it, I’m not using the money I don’t have. On the contrary, I will be spending my own cash (in card form). Think of it as the child of the credit card and the debit card.
What is the difference between a prepaid credit card and a debit card?
The difference between this and a debit card (which I also have) is that it comes with the features of a credit card: card number, security number, and is a Visa. The works. This means you can use it in whatever transaction requires a credit card.
BPI My ePrepaid vs. BPI More Fun
There are actually 2 prepaid credit cards offered by BPI: this and My ePrepaid. I first considered the latter but ultimately decided to get a More Fun card because of two reasons:
It has a lower opening fee: P250 vs. P600.
You can upload your own picture to serve as background for the card.
Oh yes, I’m not kidding. More than the lower opening fee, I gravitated toward More Fun because I can choose the picture I can use. Woot!
I decided to use a picture of Yuri when we were in Costa Marina.
The photo was ultra-crisp on the website but in person, it looked a bit blurred. Maybe this was intentionally done to highlight the card number or other features. Anyway, it does not matter because the actual card is cute enough.
As of now, I haven’t used the card yet. I submitted my account number for the enrollment of the credit card in my BPI online, and I didn’t check whether it has been enrolled already. I will do an update, though, once I finally get to use it!
I applied for this card online and it took around 3 weeks before I finally received an email saying that my card was ready to claim. I’m not sure, though, whether this wait has been made longer because I applied for the card in the middle of Christmas season. To show you what I did to apply and eventually claim the card, I will write a separate post later this week.
If you want more information about this card, you can visit BPI’s website. This is, in any way, a sponsored post. I applied for the card on my own accord and reviewed it because I think it’s cool.
This post was originally written in January 2015.
As of now, I have already used my BPI More Fun Prepaid Card several times, including a couple of times with GoDaddy and one time with Photobook Philippines. I’ve also connected it to my PayPal account and used it to re-verify my account. It’s fail-proof and the best part is that I don’t have to think of debts to pay!
