4 Reasons Why I Love Shopping With ShopBack

It’s shopping season once again!

Okay, who am I kidding. It’s always shopping season in my household! But in fairness to me (in fairness to me talaga), I’ve been able to cut back on my shopping expenses. I’m not panic buying each time I find myself in the grocery anymore hahaha. I have only shopped online a couple of times for the past two months I think (and those were necessities. Yuri outgrew all of his shoes!), and they never exceeded my set budget. Also, I haven’t ordered anything beauty or skin-related for the longest time. Yay!

Aside from the fact that I need to save money because it’s almost Christmas, I need to allocate money for gasoline for the first time in my life. Gah! Good thing gasoline prices are not as high as they were before. More importantly, Job and I had the money talk (again). Job is one of the stingiest most frugal person I know, and I am inspired by him. He doesn’t buy anything he doesn’t need so he was able to save a big part of his income. Also, he doesn’t have short-term goals. He has long-term goals and he’d rather save now and enjoy later. To be honest? I’m pressured! I barely have any savings because I spent it on buying Ingrid so I really need to replenish my savings.

Anyway, speaking of shopping and saving, did you know that you can do both? I mean, we cannot not shop during Christmas season (hello, fellow ninangs and titas!). So aside from looking for discounts and coupons and going after sales, I also use ShopBack. I’ve already talked about ShopBack in the past, but I’ll give you 3 reasons why I love it.

1. Almost all of the online shops I frequent are ShopBack partners.

Lazada, Zalora, Bench, and Althea are only some of the online shops I frequent, and I was so ecstatic to learn that they’re all ShopBack partners! Althea, in particular, is such a godsend. I’ve gushed over Althea a couple of times here in my blog and it’s one of my most favourite online shopping sites ever. (April loot, September loot) I share my Althea addiction with my workmate, Lenz! As if I needed to find yet another reason to love Althea, I can also earn money just by shopping on it, through ShopBack!

(Psst, if you want to sign up for Althea, please use my referral link to receive a total of P350 discount *wink*)

2. Earnings are not meagre! They’re actually bigger than what I initially expected!

Honestly? When I first learned about ShopBack (I think that was January this year when I was contacted for a collaboration), I thought I would be earning just a couple of pesos each transaction. Nothing sizeable or significant (like earnings on ad clicks lol). But I was surprised to know I could earn a hundred pesos or even more in just one 1000-peso transaction! So imagine how much you can earn in a 5000-peso transaction! I’m not kidding; I have already withdrawn my past earnings, which I earned from just shopping.

3. Withdrawing my earnings is super easy and fast.

And speaking of withdrawing your earnings, it just takes a few clicks to do it! I put in my bank details and withdrew my earnings. I actually expected to receive it in 2 weeks, but to my surprise, I received the money within just a couple of days. Details are hazy now but I think it was around 2-3 days. And the best part? No fees and deductions. I received my earnings in full!

4. They gave me a tablet!

Okay, this last reason is personal. Any ShopBack user will experience reasons 1 to 2 (promise), but I was one of the lucky people who won their recent Win A Wish Blogging Contest. My winning entry is about the things I need as a newbie real estate broker. The prize? Anything I want that is worth P10,000. Not bad, not bad at all! I was torn between a new tablet and my own convection oven. You see, my mum’s tablet got broken and she needed a new one. Since I wanted to make her happy (chos!), I decided to wish for a tablet instead and gave it to her. Here’s the tablet from ShopBack!

Thank you so much ShopBack! Indeed, the tablet has been of great use in our real estate business.

Messy Haul: My First BeautyMNL Loot

BeautyMNL Review

I’ve been lurking around BeautyMNL since, I don’t know, last year?

But for some reason, I’ve never made an order there because I gravitate toward Korean products and I get my K-beauty fix from Althea — Korean products are much much cheaper there.

This time, though, I was in dire need of micellar water (regular toner is too strong for my skin) as well as some cheap but good dry shampoo (because sometimes, honestly? I don’t have to time to shower before taking Yuri to school). There’s dry shampoo on Althea but no micellar water so I thought of checking out BeautyMNL.

BeautyMNL Review

Love at first delivery: I am so loving the packaging — it’s ziplock!

I was originally planning on getting the Japanese brand, Biore, but then I discovered the my fave (next to e.l.f.) drugstore brand Maybelline has cheaper micellar water. I wanted to try both but decided to go with Maybelline for now.

Of course, I also bought dry shampoo for days I just can’t shower before going out. Here’s my BeautyMNL loot – with the reviews I left on the website for each of them. Continue Reading

Messy Haul: 2 Super Sulit Finds from Lazada

I honestly don’t know how many times I order online in a month.

(And I am supposed to renounce all forms of shopping to save money. But don’t worry; this parcel I ordered early this month pa.)

I pride myself on being able to spot bargain finds a mile away, but I was especially pleased with these 2 things I ordered from Lazada because even I couldn’t believe they cost so little! Here they are:

1. Crayola Color and Draw Kit with Free Enfagrow A+ Four Powdered Milk Drink 350g

We’re homeschooling this year, and one thing that I learned from our first month of doing so is that you can never have enough art materials. Which is why I’m always looking for good deals when it comes to them. I was randomly browsing the Crayola section at Lazada when I saw I think four different art sets. That wasn’t extraordinary in any way, but I also noticed that all of them came with a free Enfagrow A+ milk.

Formula milk was actually not a staple at home, but I’ve been giving preschooler milk to Yuri ever since he started having frequent nosebleeds. I was concerned because what if his nose bleeds during his class in Eye Level and I wasn’t there? Formula milk had higher iron content than ordinary milk (please correct me if I’m wrong), and now the nosebleeds are almost totally gone.

Anyway, my eyes grew huge when I read the words “Enfagrow” and “free.” Free milk, everyone! And the contents of the art kit were not bad either. Lookie!

Korean Love From Althea <3

Althea Philippines

Even though I’m just getting into makeup, I can’t recall a time when I wasn’t into skincare.

It doesn’t mean I’m the most diligent person in the world when it comes to following skincare regimens though, but I believe in the importance of having a good one. I’m a fan of Korean beauty products because one, they are effective and two, they come in the cutest of packagings. Double win!

So when I heard about Althea, I knew I needed to try it out. During the website’s opening, they had a couple of promos — free shipping for orders amounting to 999 and up and 300 sign-up voucher — and I just had to take advantage of it. Being a good netizen, I also shared Althea with my work colleagues and, unsurprisingly, almost all of us placed orders that very day.

I placed my order on February 16th and, because it came all the way from Korea (and probably also because of the influx of orders), arrived 9 working days later.

The arrival of my Althea box was highly anticipated, but it was also bittersweet because it arrived on the 27th, the same night when I lost my phone. When I came home that night, I immediately saw the box waiting for me, but I wasn’t excited to open it because I was feeling dejected.

It just sat on my desk, all forlorn and lonely

It just sat on my desk, all forlorn and lonely

Of course I was curious, and of course, I had to use a certain product (two actually — the arm slimming pack and the armpit whitening pack — because it’s beach day the next day), but most of the time, it sat unopened in my room. It wasn’t until I got my new phone when I gleefully, wholeheartedly, dug into it.

Before I begin, if you want to order authentic Korean beauty items from Althea, just sign up using this link! It’s my referral link and it won’t cost you a thing. In fact, if you sign up using my link, you will get P200 signup credits instead of the regular P150 signup credits.

So here’s the package I got:

Maximising My Savings With ShopBack!

If there's anything I love more than online shopping, it's BARGAIN online shopping. Now I'm able to maximise my savings using ShopBack, a cashback system!

It’s no secret that I’m an avid online shopper.

While I’m also striving to be financially independent, I can’t deny that I really love shopping. I like the satisfaction of scouring through the aisles (or bins — or browser tabs) and looking for sales, discounts, basically the best value for my money. So my favourite kind of shopping is, what else, bargain shopping!

Last Christmas, for example, maybe around 80% of my gifts was bought online, and maybe more than half of them was bought on sale. I even used my discount vouchers and blogger rewards. Nice, right? I bought my gifts from online shopping websites like eBayZalora, LazadaAliexpress, and Galleon. But I wanted to go beyond discounts and sales. This time, I tried the cash back system.

Yes! You can now avail of a cash back system online — thanks to ShopBack

ShopBack Philippines

It’s so easy. All you need to do is sign up and make an account, click on your preferred shopping website and shop using the redirected link, and wait for the cashback to be credited into your account. Here’s a step-by-step process: Continue Reading

Happy Mail: Huawei Honor 4C, BuriBox, and Blogger Freebies

One of my most favourite feelings in the world is receiving a package. I guess it’s because it’s just like receiving a gift, yes?

Unexpected mails are usually the best!

Last week was a good one because I received four lovely packages, two of which were unexpected. You see, you don’t need to send me anything expensive or luxurious to make me happy. Anything, anything at all, especially when delivered at my doorstep, err gate, will make my day. The men who deliver stuff to my house know this. Sometimes, they even ask me whether I ordered new things for my son again. LOL!

Anyway, here are the lovely things I received last week:

1. Our first BuriBox!

We’re so blessed to have been able to try BuriBox for free, thanks to Janice of The Roller Coaster Ride! Actually, I had been meaning to try BuriBox ever since I first heard about it; however, they weren’t shipping outside Metro Manila yet. Good thing they’re already shipping to other cities and provinces now!

I was so excited when it finally arrived, and Yuri, upon seeing what the box contained (while it was still inside the courier’s bag, he kept asking whether the package was for him!), didn’t waste one second and immediately dug into his BuriBox.

Watch out for my full review of it soon!

Messy Haul: Natural Bath and Skin Products

Natural Bath and Skin Products Haul

I haven’t posted a haul post in ages! Maybe because I was too busy? And lazy? (Konsensya: Hello, maybe you just weren’t buying anything post-worthy lately!)

That’s true. All of the reasons. Especially the third! Here’s the thing. I have accounts on many shopping websites and I have a lot of items stored in my cart (just in case) but I haven’t felt like shopping in months. There, I said it! I had a hard time accepting that since I’ve always loved shopping (with all my heart) but maybe I’m becoming lazy? I don’t bother checking out items within 48 hours. Heck, I don’t even impulse-buy anymore. Maybe I’ve become more conscious of my spending habits? Maybe it’s because I’m spending money on groceries instead?

Or maybe it’s because I’m *gasp* maturing?

Then again, there are things I just can’t help but buy, and these include natural bath and skin products. Yuri is prone to eczema while I have keratosis pilaris (I just usually say I have skin asthma even though it’s not the same thing), so I usually avoid supermarket brands that have strong ingredients. And I love discovering different local brands that offer organic and/or natural products.

So here’s my latest haul! I bought these from an eBay seller because she carries different local natural products.

What’s In My Cart: Phone, Makeup, and More

I haven’t posted any haul post lately. Must be because I haven’t been buying anything lately? Haha that’s probably the reason why!

Aside from the obvious fact that it’s almost Christmas (can you believe it) and I’m trying to save money for Christmas gifts (emphasis on trying huhu), I find myself spending on food instead of stuff. That’s unlike me because I usually prefer buying stuff over food – must explain the weight gain I’ve had lately?

But that doesn’t mean I’m not window shopping. Oh no, far from that. In fact, I’ve been doing nothing but check online websites. For weeks now. I’m very busy at work (and I’ve been having personal problems — read: LQ), so I’m relieving stress by online window shopping. Who doesn’t love online window shopping? You get the same happy hormone rush as if you’re actually shopping without the buyer’s remorse.

Okay I take it back. It’s not exactly like actual shopping. But it’s still stress-relieving — at least for me! Here are the stuff I’ve been planning to buy (but keep on delaying because I’m one kuripot lady):

1. Phone

Mixed Mess: Whirlwind Week + Travel Itch + Other Stories

Travel Bug

Oh my goodness, the week is finally coming to an end! And I survived it!

I’ve been having straight busy weeks for some time now, but this week is a different kind of hectic because our family has to deal with a sickness, too. However, work was very hectic this week, too. Aside from training our 3 new hires, I myself have to learn new tasks. On top of that, everyone, especially the staff from Australia, seems to be getting sick. Even my co-pilot Lenz had to miss work the other day because she had a fever – and she’s absent again today because she’s going to Camiguin. Life is fair!

Which leads me to my first story…

Fab & Frugal Finds for August

Lovely Monday, everyone!

I’ve taken the entire weekend off. Aside from trips to the playground and walks around the village, I never stepped outside the house. I needed some rest. But the bad news is that, because I was also almost always online, I was constantly checking out online shops. Noooo!

Well, for one, I really need a new phone (my Zenfone is still working really well, but its crack is growing – it’s almost like the West Valley fault now – and I don’t want to fully destroy it). I’m looking for a midrange unit with a good camera; what do you suggest?

Also, after last week’s weekend getaway at Villa Amparo Resort in Samal, I realised I needed a backpack. You see, I always used travel totes and duffel bags. They have always worked for me — until I needed to bring a pre-schooler along alone. So, backpack it is.

Don’t worry — I haven’t bought anything yet. I’m trying to save up. Emphasis on trying.

But let me show you some fun and frugal finds I bought in August. Let’s start with kawaii office supplies!

Nine West wallet
Nine West wallet – P1,200

Coin purse/ earphone case – P40 each

Card holder – P25 each

I actually bought the wallet a month ago, but I belatedly realised it (I took the picture already) so I just included it. The coin purses and card holders, I bought from an online store. Send me a PM to know where. More items from that store after the jump.
