Review: My First Anello

I am officially the world’s worst person when it comes to following trends. The bandwagon leaves waaay before I even think of jumping on it!

Such is my love story with Anello. I have always preferred bags over shoes, but I tend to gravitate toward leather and classic styles. I discovered Anello in early 2016 through a friend who is a fan of all things Japanese. And then in early 2017, a close friend who lives in Japan proposed a business with me. During this time, Anello was all the rage and we thought we could sell them here straight from Japan. Obviously, it didn’t come to fruition because none of us had selling experience hehe.

Come mid-to-late 2017. My son is already in school and I find myself bringing lots of stuff whenever I go out (which is everyday). I have to bring an entire change of clothes, a towel or two, snacks, Yuri’s Thermos… No one told me being a school-mom is much like being a baby-mom. While my old leather bags are spacious enough to accommodate them, they’re too heavy. I am on the go and I bring my laptop with me, too, and my shoulders can only take so much.

I decided to give Anello a chance. I wasn’t planning on buying the faux-leather ones as I had bad experience with leatherette, so nylon it is! I was deciding between the tote style and the 2-way shoulder bag but, with my current lifestyle, I thought I could benefit from an adjustable strap. Thus, the shoulder bag!

(I haven’t had my eyebrows on yet, thus the cropped picture haha!)

I am aware that there’s already a physical Anello store in Manila but Manila is too far from Davao. I did a bit of sleuthing and discovered¬†Anello Direct.¬†I saw several reviews vouching for its legitimacy and how it only sells genuine Anello + it offers free shipping worldwide. I ordered the Anello 2-Way Shoulder Bag (Large) in Light Gray for $39.90.¬† After more than 2 weeks of waiting, here it is!

It got sent through PhilPost and I paid around P112 for it.

There’s a discount code!

It came in a huge bubble wrap bag and then in this Anello zip-lock style plastic bag.

Three tags

First is the Anello card which is white and textured

The bag code and the color

The bag code and the color

The Anello patch is smooth and satiny, the letters are centered and well-spaced. Two bottles that intersect form the logo (they intersect well – no smudging, blotting whatsoever).

Round golden rivets

More rounded golden hardware

It says “Carrot Co.” inside the snap

Golden zippers

Consistent stitching all throughout

Gold zipper (again) and a leather(ette?) bag tag

The adjustable shoulder strap

Let me just say that I am now officially an Anello believer. It’s so roomy and lightweight and I don’t have to worry about putting too much inside — it’s a heavy duty bag! The strap doesn’t pinch my shoulders and it doesn’t feel like I’m lugging around a pile of rocks. And just like its promise, the bottom of the bag doesn’t lose its shape even though there’s a lot inside.

Next on my list: either the tote bag or the backpack!

Naku! Thanks for sharing mommy na kapag school days pala ay need ko ng heavy duty bag. Mukhang okay ang Anello. Ilan years kaya sya nagagamit usually? I saw a branch near our area last weekend (sana mag-sale! hehe)

I bought Anello backpack last year and so far I’m happy with my purchase. I’m planning to buy shoulder bag din when my budget permits. I bought mine in BGC but now I’m glad that we have two stores near our place na so I’m sure makakarating na rin sila ng Davao.

Parang ako din napakalate bloomer sa kung ano ung mga uso! I am not really into bags.

I am not a bag person (well buti na lang kasi ang mahal magcollect ng bags esp the ones made from genuine leather) but I like bags na heavy duty. I hate faux leather kasi feeling ko sandali ko lang magagamit. That Anello bag is great for mommies like us na on-the-go madalas.. when running errands parang hindi mo na maiisip na pang-gandara bag yung dadalhin mo haha.

I’ve been wanting to try an Anello shoulder bag too! I feel like it’s going to be a perfect mommy/baby bag for me. I like shoulder straps but love having the crossbody strap option because it is super useful when I need to carry my toddler. My two daughters have Anello backpacks but I haven’t been able to purchase any for myself yet.
