I remember blogging about Korean dramas and Korean stars in my old college blog (nope, no link haha). I’ve always loved Korean food too though, for the life of me, I cannot memorise the names of the dishes. But recently, I became obsessed with Korean skincare products and makeup.
So for me, it just makes a lot of sense to order directly from Korea (via Althea, of course!). For starters, not all of the products are locally available here. Also, prices are much, much cheaper, not to mention you can earn referral points and rebates!
Without much ado, here’s the latest loot I received from Althea a month ago:
And here are the products inside the lovely pink box:
1. Mat Fix Chica Y Chico Matt BB Cushion (P610)
If you noticed, BB cushions are all the rage nowadays, and since this was on sale (from P1,920 to P610 plus 100% rebate), I immediately grabbed one.
First impressions: Upon application, it looks too white for my morena skin (I ordered the darker shade, #23), but after a couple of minutes, it blends into the skin quite well. It’s not overly matte as advertised, but I actually like that it has a dewy finish.
2. It’s My Magic Sponge (P100)
I can’t afford the real Beauty Blender, so I looked for a replacement. I spotted this in Althea, and it’s dirt cheap so there’s nothing to lose! Also, it looks cute tee hee.
First impressions: I haven’t tried the Beauty Blender or anything similar. This is my first cushion blender, but I can say that it does the job quite well. Durable, too!
3. Elizavecca Skin Liar Primer (P280)
I’ve been wanting to buy a proper primer, too, and as I was searching through the aisles of Althea, I saw this hugely discounted primer – from P1,000 to P280, can you believe it? The first thing I noticed was the uber cute packaging. When my son saw it, he thought it was a Minecraft toy!
First impressions: Loving it! It doesn’t really erase the pores (or maybe it will if you’re using a thick layer, but I prefer using only a thin layer of primer because…tropical weather). But it’s lightweight on the skin and it’s so easy to apply makeup afterward. Foundation or BB cream easily glides on the skin!
4. Witch’s Pouch Perfect Cover Concealer (P240)
I don’t know about you but it’s still stick concealer for me. I’ve used various concealers since high school (because I need to cover up a certain dark spot on the side of my face) and it’s only stick concealers that give me the coverage that I want. This one is also discounted, from P510 to P240.
First impressions: This one’s coverage is really good! It covers up the dark circles under my eyes really well (without making me look weird as undereye brighteners tend to do…) as well as my dark spot. I love its creamy texture, too!
My friends’ orders
I obviously don’t have any first impressions for these as these are not mine (I’m not really into lip products), but I can tell you that they all 1.) look cute 2.) smell nice and 3.) pass my lippie-expert friends haha.
5. Rire Lip Manicure (P350)
6. Onsaemeein Velvet Moist Lip Tint (P240)
