This summer was just so hot. I know I shouldn’t be complaining as I live in a pretty comfortable house with access to air-conditioning, but during this summer, we had long brownouts almost everyday so we always experienced unbearable heat.
We had no time to organise a trip to Baguio or Tagaytay so we went local. Here in Davao Region, we also have a summer capital. It’s the small town of Maragusan, which is surrounded by mountains. Bukidnon is also a known summer destination, as well as Buda, but we’ve never been to Maragusan before and we were curious.
Anyway, we were desperate to cool down haha so we went there. It’s a three-hour trip from Davao City. There are several tourist attractions in the town and we were able to go to four. Here’s a mini photo-story of our trip!
1. Aguacan Inland Resort

Yuri made some new friends here

Aguacan Inland Resort is generally a nice resort with clean pools (and cold spring water!). However, I don’t recommend staying here for the night as the rooms are not quite nice.

One of the reasons not to stay overnight? There are ZERO power outlets in any of our rooms.

My favourite spot in the resort is the fish spa!

I actually took pictures of our room but, at the last minute, decided against posting them. Basta, visit the place but don’t stay overnight.
Entrance fee – I think it was P50
Room for 4 – starts from P750
2. Tagbibinta Falls

Not much to see here because the place is not fully developed yet, but the falls are quite beautiful. There was also a pool (with spring water). We just swam in the pool because the falls are hard to access for a toddler-bearing, flip-flop wearing clumsy woman.
Entrance fee – P10
Cottage – P75
3. Kanlawig Hot Spring Resort

This resort is not up to par with Aguacan (both resorts are said to have the same owner), but I love the hot spring pool. Perfect temperature!
Entrance fee – P40
Cottage – P200
4. Haven’s Peak Highland Resort

If you plan to stay in Maragusan, book a room in Haven’s Peak!

Prepare to brave the 209-step staircase though.

I bought all of their remaining goat’s milk hehehe. I think it was P80 per litre.

Maragusan is also the home to Rafflesia magnifica

You can see the whole town of Maragusan from here!

Their food is really yummy and fresh, too.
Entrance fee – P10 (P10!)
Swimming pool – P80
Thanks, Maragusan, for allowing us to escape the heat of the city!
